- Au niveau de la 17e coudée, côté est du puits : Cor. L, 9. : « Nous faisons descendre du ciel une eau bénie grâce à laquelle nous faisons croître les jardins ; le grain que l’on moissonne. »
- Au niveau de la 17e coudée, côté nord du puits : Cor. XXII, 5. : « Tu vois la terre désertique, mais dès que nous y faisons descendre de l’eau, elle remue, elle gonfle, elle fait pousser toutes sortes de belles espèces de plantes. »
- Au niveau de la 17e coudée, côté ouest du puits : Cor. XXII, 63. : « Ne vois-tu pas que Dieu fait descendre du ciel une eau et la terre reverdit au matin. Dieu est, en vérité, bienveillant et il est parfaitement informé ».
- Au niveau de la 17e coudée, côté sud du puits : Cor. XLII, 28. : « C’est lui qui fait tomber l’ondée lorsque les hommes sont désespérés. Il étend sa miséricorde, il est le Maître digne de louanges ».
- Au niveau de la 18e coudée, une corniche inscrite : Cor. XIV, 37. : « Dieu, c’est lui qui a créé les cieux et la terre et qui fait descendre du ciel une eau grâce à laquelle il fait pousser des fruits pour votre subsistance… ». Puis : « Nilomètre du bonheur, de la grâce et du salut, dont la construction a été ordonnée par ‘Abd Allâh Ja‘far al-Imâm al-Muttawakil ‘alâ Allâh, le Prince des Croyants, puisse Dieu lui donner longue vie et perpétuer sa gloire et son pouvoir. Par la main de Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Hasib, en l’année 247 ».
- Au niveau de la 19e coudée, une frise en bois d’acacia : Cor. II, 255. : « Dieu ! Il n’y a de Dieu que lui : le Vivant ; celui qui subsiste par lui-même ! … Son Trône s’étend sur les cieux et sur la terre : leur maintien dans l’existence ne lui est pas une charge. Il est le Très-Haut, l’Inaccessible.»
- Au niveau de la 19e coudée, face au Nil, au-dessus de l’entrée : « Au nom de Dieu le Clément le Miséricordieux ; Éloge au Maître du monde, que la paix soit sur Muhammad, le premier des Apôtres. ‘Abd Allâh Ja‘far al-Imam al-Mutawakkil ‘alâ Allâh, le Prince des Croyants, a ordonné la construction de ce Nilomètre Hashimite afin que la montée et la descente du Nil soient connues. Puisse Dieu donner longue vie au Prince des Croyants, que Dieu lui donne grandeur et pouvoir, victoire contre ses ennemis, la continuation de ses grâces et faveurs, et lui fasse toujours faire de bonnes actions et exercer sa compassion sur le peuple ! Écrit par Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Hasib, dans le mois de Rajab 247 de l’Hégire (10 septembre-9 octobre 861) ».
