En un lado del candil, en cúfico: «Que Dios bendiga a quien encienda este candil».
En el otro lado: «Fabricado por Jafar ibn Yusuf en el año 135».
El asa está enderezada y curvada hacia el interior. Pese a estar rota, se distinguen en ella dos salientes que se asemejan a dos orejas. El asa completa representaba sin duda la cabeza de un animal, como solía ocurrir en las asas de los candiles de la época bizantina.
