Esta pulsera proviene de la región de la Beqaa. Fue encontrada sin contexto arqueológico y forma parte de un lote de joyas de oro adquiridas por el museo nacional de Beirut. Sus dos partes huecas, hechas de hojas de oro trenzadas, perforadas y estampadas, están reunidas por una bisagra. El cierre de clavija está adornado con un rubí rodeado de cuatro protuberancias afiligranadas. Este tipo de pulsera de junco hueca está bien documentado. Se utiliza en la época romana y existe igualmente en el mundo iraní. Varias pulseras similares a ésta se encuentran en diversas colecciones, en el Metropolitan Museum of Art[1]la Freer Gallery of Art de Washington[2], en Los Angeles County Museum of Art[3], en el museo del Louvre en París y en el Museo nacional de Damasco[4] para los más conocidos. Estos ejemplos son en su mayoría atribuidos a Siria, mientras que algunos lo son a Irán[5]. Es evidente que las técnicas de orfebrería en Siria y en Egipto, que son muy antiguas, también han sido influenciadas por las del mundo iraní. de Nueva York, en
La datación de las joyas no siempre es sencilla, ya que la orfebrería se caracteriza a menudo por la continuidad y la preservación de ciertas tradiciones. Las del período fatimí demuestran la sabiduría desarrollada por los joyeros, así como el gusto de la clientela de la época. Elementos esenciales de los adornos femeninos, las joyas de oro formaban parte de la «dote» ofrecida por el novio a su prometida. Constituían también un valor económico fiable, sobre todo en períodos de crisis. Así, la mayoría de estos productos desaparecieron en la época medieval, ya que fueron fundidos.
