Uno de los lados del candil lleva la siguiente inscripción en cúfico: «Que Dios bendiga al que lo ha fabricado».
En el otro lado, una inscripción invertida reza: «Masud lo ha fabricado».
La repetición de la fórmula «ha fabricado» empobrece el texto. Por otra parte, parece que la segunda inscripción debió de escribirse al derecho en el molde y, por ende, el resultado fue una inscripción invertida en el producto final.
