L’un des côtés de la lampe, porte une inscription en kufique : « Que Dieu bénisse celui qui l’a fabriquée. »
Sur l’autre côté, dans une inscription inversée on peut lire : « Mas`ud l’a fabriquée. »
La répétition de la formule « l’a fabriquée » rend le texte maladroit. Il semble que l’inscription ait été écrite correctement sur le moule, avec pour résultat une graphie inversée sur la lampe terminée.
