Esta mezquita transformada en ermita está situada en el Aljarafe, una de las comarcas más ricas de la provincia de Sevilla, a unos cinco kilómetros de Bollullos de la Mitación. La sala de oración, que consta de tres naves perpendiculares al muro de la quibla, está cubierta de un armazón de madera que ha sido reconstruido. Comprende varias filas de arcadas compuestas de cinco arcos peraltados, que en su origen fueron de herradura, enmarcados por profundos marcos rectangulares (o alfices) y apoyados en pilares cuadrados.
Al norte de la ermita se eleva un alminar cuadrangular de ladrillos que presenta pequeños arcos geminados ciegos, de herradura o polilobulados, en todos sus frentes. Alberga en su interior una escalera caracol cubierta con bóveda de cañón continua. La orientación del edificio religioso cambió cuando se transformó en templo cristiano. Se eliminó el mihrab y se añadieron un pórtico y dos cruces laterales. Se ha podido encontrar el pequeño patio y la huella de peldaño de la puerta original de acceso a la sala de oración durante las restauraciones llevadas a cabo.
El hecho de que se trate de uno de los pocos ejemplos relativamente completo de mezquita hispano-musulmana que ha llegado hasta nosotros confiere al monumento un interés particular. La ermita de Cuatrobitas, Cuatrovitas, Cuatrovitan o Cuatrohabitan (los textos recogen estas cuatro variantes) fue probablemente una mezquita rural asociada a una aldea, o tal vez situada en una encrucijada de caminos importante. Se trata de una mezquita menor, versión simplificada de las grandes mezquitas andaluzas de la época almohade. La planta, con tres naves perpendiculares al muro de la quibla, se sitúa en la tradición hispano-musulmana, pero no puede descartarse la posibilidad de una mezquita más antigua a la que se hubiera añadido un alminar durante los años subsiguientes a la construcción de la Giralda.
Su alminar es la réplica simplificada y reducida de las torres almohades, en las que se inspiran sus armoniosas proporciones. En la iglesia de San Pedro de Sanlúcar la Grande y en la Hacienda de Lerena (Huévar, provincia de Sevilla), se han conservado dos torres de una hermosa simplicidad que pueden ponerse en relación con el alminar de Cuatrovitas.
