Dos lazos ondulados dibujan unos medallones en forma de mandarla (cuatro y el principio de un quinto), adornada cada una de una palmeta de cinco lóbulos.
Los intervalos acogen a medias palmetas. Dos lazos encuadran el conjunto, uno con estrías y el otro liso.
Este estilo está evidentemente marcado por las influencias sasánidas transmitidas por el tercer estilo de Samarra, en boga en Mesopotamia desde el siglo IX[1] y copiado por el arte tulunida en Egipto.
Parece ser que este estilo no haya alcanzado Ifriqiya antes del final del siglo X, e incluso antes del principio del siglo XI. La puerta de la maqsura de la Gran Mezquita de Kairouán lo ilustra perfectamente.
