Ce vase est caractéristique des récipients que l’on nomme jarrita, (mot qui provient du terme arabe djarra, « cruche »), avec un col dont la hauteur correspond approximativement à celle de la panse et qui servent de vase à boire. L’absence de glaçure permet une évaporation de l’eau qui reste ainsi toujours fraîche. Cette pièce, qui présente un certain nombre de fissures, repose sur un pied annulaire surmonté d’une panse sphérique aplatie, munie de deux hautes anses ovales et d’un col en forme de tulipe. Les deux anses appliquées sur la panse prennent naissance dans la partie inférieure du col et sont ornées de traits noirs parallèles peints à l’oxyde de manganèse. Le col cylindrique évasé porte sur sa partie supérieure un décor de lignes obliques incisées sur la surface peinte. Sur la partie inférieure du col on observe un motif pseudo-épigraphique peint en lettres cursives, motif fréquent dans le monde islamique, que l’on rencontre de l’Asie centrale à l’Espagne. La panse présente un jeu de registres décoratifs brun-noir, cloisonnés par des bandes horizontales superposées.
Dans le courant du XIIe siècle, les décors peints et incisés deviennent fréquents parmi les productions d’al-Andalus, en particulier celles de la région de Murcie et de Valence. La pièce de Lixus possède une forme et des traits stylistiques qui l’apparentent aux productions de ce type réalisées en Andalousie à partir de l’époque almohade (1130-1269). Les productions d’al-Andalus ont pu être importées au Maghreb, on ignore cependant si une production locale a été développée dans cette région à l’époque almohade ou marinide (1196-1549).
