Cette porte était celle du tabernacle de la cathédrale originelle Santa Maria de Sevilla, édifiée sur l’ancienne mosquée, qui fut dédié en 1248 au culte chrétien, jusqu’à la construction, au XVe siècle, de l’actuelle église gothique. Constituée de deux battants décorés de frises d’entrelacs, elle présente comme motif principal un réseau géométrique d’étoiles à dix branches, prolongées d’hexagones et d’étoiles à cinq branches. Deux inscriptions de l’Ancien et du Nouveau Testament, invoquant le Psaume 53, 1-3 et une citation eucharistique de l’évangile selon Saint Jean (6, 50-57) encadrent ce décor. On distingue également le nom de Dieu « Allâh » sculpté sur la porte à plusieurs reprises. Les heurtoirs zoomorphes s’ornent de deux superbes têtes de lions réalisés en métal, auxquels sont attachées les poussoirs lobés et décorés de croix, de branches et d’une inscription latine faisant allusion au Seigneur. La serrure est en fer doré et présente les mêmes décorations végétales et une inscription arabe en graphie cursive tardive.
Au XIXe siècle, Amador de los Rios considérait que cette œuvre avait pu être fabriquée pendant la seconde moitié du XIIIe siècle. Des trouvailles postérieures permettent de penser qu’elle fut peut-être réalisée par les charpentiers tolédans au XIVe siècle, qui étaient particulièrement réputés à cette époque ; c’est ce que soutiennent Gestoso et Camps en s’appuyant sur des comparaisons avec d’autres portes sévillanes réalisées pour le Salon des Ambassadeurs du Real Alcazar de Séville (1366). Elle présente également des similitudes de style et de décor avec d’autres portes mudéjares, telles celles de l’église de Saint Martin de Séville, de la paroisse de San Andrés de Jaén (aujourd’hui au Musée Archéologique National de Madrid) ou avec les portes originaires de l’église du Château de Aracena (Huelva).
