Aqueduc hafside

L’ancien aqueduc romain est relié à deux autres adductions construites par les Hafsides, acheminant les eaux de Zaghouan à la ville de Tunis et à l’Ariana vers les jardins d’Abou Hihr.
Les aqueducs hafsides sont composés de canalisations à parois construites en moellons couvertes d’un enduit hydraulique. Ils sont soulagés par des arcs en plein cintre, parfois en double rangées superposées, construites en pierre et posés sur des piliers en pisé, dont la section est rectangulaire parés de pierre. La forme de ces aqueducs ainsi que les procédés de construction sont inspirés des installations hydrauliques romaines notamment les aqueducs de Zaghouan.
