Este pendiente forma parte de un tesoro que fue descubierto en 1930 en la región montañosa del Tarabia, a unos veinte kilómetros de la ciudad del Kef en Túnez. Contenía unas joyas (pendientes, pulseras, perlas) y ochenta-y-dos piezas de monedas de oro. Entre ellas, unas de las más recientes, acuñadas en Mahdia, son datadas de 1044-1045.
De forma polilobulada, la joya esta compuesta de siete pequeñas cajas en forma de media luna. Todas estas cajas, muy aplastadas, están cernidas por un hilo trenzado y están dispuestas en arco. Las dos cajas visibles de cada lado del pendiente son cada una decoradas con cinco ruedas rodeadas por un hilo trenzado. Dos ruedas ocupan los ángulos mientras que las tres otras, dispuestas en triángulo, adornan el centro de la caja. El anillo que se suspende a la oreja, en forma de herradura, no lleva ningún adorno.
Aunque los objetos de oro sean rarísimos, este pendiente se parece, por su forma y so decorado, a unas joyas de origen hispano moras[1]. Perpetúa la técnica de la filigrana, que caracteriza un número considerable de joyas españolas del siglo X hasta el siglo XV. Aunque su decorado no sea tan refinado, este pendiente ofrece algunas similitudes con los pendientes descubiertos en Egipto[2], en Siria y en Irán[3], datados del siglo XI al siglo XIII.
